Week 5
Blake Van Niekerk.
Research in the Graphic Design or any Design industry, is a key factor because the designer are able to view the previous designs for the company they have been employed by. It also allows the designers access to; tips, information examples and other ideas to assist in the designing process.
The most useful platforms (or forms of Media) to a Graphic Designer for research are; Internet, magazines, industry text books, people in the industry and of course employer relations. Graphic Designer forums are also a great form of research they allow people to freely express their personal and professional opinions on the current work, if the Designer post their work.
In everyday life I have seen Visual Imagery, which influences me as a Graphic Designer, everywhere. Examples of these vary from; business cards, brochures, magazine covers, bus-side advertising, billboards, TV advertising, catalogues, t-shirt designs, and so on. Since becoming a Graphic Designer I am constantly influenced and critiquing these items of visual imagery. Often taking notes on layout, colour scheme, balance, proportion and other principles and elements of design. These examples are good to remember because they are often classed as professional designs.
